Accessibility Statement

Aurelian Ltd is committed to making aurelianltd.com usable by as many people as possible, including those who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification or voice control.

1. Standard we aim for

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. This statement sets out where we currently meet that standard, where we know we fall short, and what we are doing about it.

2. What we have done

• Text and background colours are chosen to meet the AA contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1 for body text
• Images that carry meaning have descriptive alternative text; decorative images are hidden from screen readers so they are not announced unnecessarily
• The site can be navigated with a keyboard, and interactive elements show a visible focus outline
• Carousels can be operated with arrow keys as well as by pointer, and their controls have descriptive labels
• Text reflows without horizontal scrolling down to a 320px viewport, and can be resized to 200% without loss of content
• Motion and entrance animations are switched off automatically for anyone whose device is set to reduce motion
• Headings are used in a logical order so screen reader users can navigate by structure

3. Known limitations

We would rather be honest about the gaps than claim full compliance. We are aware of the following and are working on them:

• There is no "skip to content" link. Keyboard and screen reader users currently have to move through the full navigation on every page before reaching the main content. We are adding one.
• Contact form labels are visually hidden. Each field is correctly labelled for screen readers, but sighted users see only placeholder text, which disappears once they start typing. We are making the labels visible.
• The blog archive and article pages have no main landmark. Screen reader users cannot jump straight to the article on those templates. We are correcting the page structure.
• Content that appears on scroll requires JavaScript. Anyone browsing with JavaScript disabled will see an incomplete page. We are adding a fallback so all content is visible either way.
• The client logo strip scrolls automatically. It pauses for anyone whose device requests reduced motion, but it does not yet have a visible pause control for everyone else.
• Some PDFs and documents we provide to clients may not be fully tagged for screen readers. If you need one in a different format, ask us and we will provide it.

4. Getting content in another format

If you need anything on this site in a different format — large print, plain text, audio, or a document read to you over the phone — email info@aurelianltd.com and tell us what you need. We will respond within 5 working days.

5. Telling us about a problem

If you find something on this website you cannot use, we want to know. Email info@aurelianltd.com with:

• The page address where you had the problem
• What you were trying to do
• What went wrong, and any assistive technology you were using

We will acknowledge your message within 5 working days and tell you what we intend to do about it.

6. If you are not happy with our response

Under the Equality Act 2010 we have a duty to make reasonable adjustments so that disabled people are not placed at a substantial disadvantage. If you contact us and are not satisfied with how we respond, you can contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service, which provides free advice and can help you take the matter further.

7. How we test

This site is checked using a combination of automated tools and manual testing, including keyboard-only navigation and screen reader spot checks. We review accessibility when we make significant changes to the site and at least once a year.
